Copyright

Copyright protects original works (moral and economic rights). In Algeria it is governed by Ordinance No. 03-05 of 19 July 2003 on copyright and neighbouring rights; please consult the current official text.

Author rights and publisher agreements

On publication you may sign an agreement that transfers rights to the publisher, or grants an exclusive or non-exclusive licence. Read the clauses on deposit, teaching use and republication before signing, and keep a copy.

Submitted, accepted and published versions

VersionDescription
PreprintThe submitted version before peer review.
Accepted ManuscriptThe version after acceptance, before the publisher’s typesetting.
Version of RecordThe final typeset version from the publisher.

Self-archiving and embargo periods

Many publishers allow the accepted manuscript to be deposited in an institutional repository, sometimes after an embargo of a set number of months. Check your publisher’s policy.

Creative Commons

CC licences let authors grant the public advance permission for reuse. Choose by goal (widest reach, or no commercial reuse…).

Awareness of plagiarism

  • Put copied text in quotation marks with a citation.
  • Paraphrase in your own words and cite the source.
  • Do not reuse your own published text without disclosure (self-plagiarism).
  • Use similarity-detection tools as an aid, not a final verdict.
